The Rijksmuseum is the national museum of The Netherlands, and is found in Amsterdam. Along with other popular museums in the city, including the Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum is found just outside the city, on Museumplein. Museumplein is an area of flat land, upon which there are four of the country’s most important and cultural museums.
The Rijksmuseum is set in a historically important old building, and is the largest museum in the whole of The Netherlands. It has over one million visitors every year, and as well as this it is most famous for supporting academic scholarships and supporting new insights into history.

Amsterdam is famous for the large numbers of young people who visit it every year, most of whom are looking for a cheap and fun weekend away in Europe. Getting to Amsterdam at the moment couldn’t really be easier, with the large numbers of cheap flights that are now available online, and from operators such as easyjet, Ryan Air and Jet2.com.
Flying in most cases is likely to be the best way to visit the city, especially seen as Amsterdam’s airport is only around twenty minutes south of the city. Flights can be very cheap, and it is unlikely that passengers will be in the air for very long. Flights to Amsterdam, as is the same with the large majority of European mainland airports, will not take more than a couple of hours. Getting around Amsterdam is very easy, possibly even easier than it is in most large European cities. There are a variety of ways that people can get around and see the sites of this famous cities, a few of which may not seem obvious at first – using the tram system, for example, is seen as possibly the easiest way to travel. Hiring bikes is also a very good option, and is done by a large number of travellers in the city.
Possibly the quickest and easiest way to get around Amsterdam is the tram system, which is very cheap and reliable. Because the trams run on tracks, like trains do, they rarely get cancelled like buses often do. This means that they are probably the most reliable form of transport, especially if the tourist has a lot of things to do in one day. The trams are numbered and run continuously until 12.15am. They begin to run again very early in the morning.
